The Institute for the blind was established in Worcester in 1881 and is the oldest organisation of its kind in South Africa. It provides comprehensive care for all aspects and needs of visually impaired persons throughout their entire life. Today it offers highly specialised education and training, and provides supported employment and a supported, independant living environment to visually impaired people, as well as a home for the Aged.
