When you book, the entire TUGELA RIVER LODGE becomes exclusively yours. It sleeps a total of 20 and comprises 3 separate thatch cottages. Each cottage sleeps 4, has its own bathroom, fireplace and sundeck. The central entertainment area consists of a lounge, dining room, kitchen, pub and three additional bedrooms. The kitchen is fully stocked with gas deepfreezes, gas hobs and all crockery , cutlery and kitchenware.

Tugela River Lodge is 10 minutes off the N3 at the Ladysmith/Bergville turnoff and is next door to Spioenkop Game Reserve with its unique game viewing on horseback and great stretch of water for sailing or boating. The Lodge is only 20 minutes drive away from the Central Drakensberg resorts. 

Tugela River Lodge - Spieonkop WintertonIn Winter tours to view large flocks of water birds, blue and crested cranes and many other species can be organised for you on a neighbouring farm. Historical tours up Spionkop Mountain by the Farmer/Owner Gary Green are popular.

Tugela River Lodge is the ideal holiday for families from Johannesburg and Durban who wish to meet halfway in a relaxed, quality bush camp.

Outside braai and logfires complete the African Experience as there is no electricity. Gas deepfreezes ensure cold drinks all weekend.

Quadbike for hire @ R50-00 for half an hour.

What to bring: Towels, torches, fishing rods, bikes, braaiwood or brickets, matches, ice. Braaiwood is for sale at R6. (This is a fundraiser for a local charity.) Coal and kindling is provided for inside fires.
