Day 1:
Arrival at Johannesburg
Met on arrival to JNB International and transfer to a luxury hotel in
Sandton. The
rest of the day at leisure to recover from the flight.
Day 2: Upington and Augrabies Falls
Transfer to JNB airport and catch domestic flight to Upington where a
team member will meet you on arrival. Depart for the
Augrabies Falls National Park. Afternoon Sight seeing and game drives.
Return to Upington.
Day 3: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
Early Breakfast. Depart to
Kalahari National Park (now called the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park).
A full day of game drives. Traditional Braai (barbeque).
Day 4: Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
Early morning Coffee and depart for a game drive, exploring the southern
section of the Park and stopping for a picnic “brunch” along the way.
In the afternoon we head back to Upington, en route we visit the San
(Bushmen) in the area. The Hominy!
We enjoy dinner at one of the local Restaurants.
Day 5: Cape Town
An Early Breakfast pack up and fly to Cape Town
to arrive at approximately 09h30. Again a team member will meet you on
arrival and en route to your accommodation you will take a short orientation
tour of the city, including Table
Mountain, weather permitting. The rest of the day at leisure.
Day 6: Peninsula Tour
After breakfast we start at Kirstenbosch
Gardens and then onto the Penguin
Colony at Boulders beach Simons
Town and Cape Point where we have Lunch. In the afternoon we take
in a drive to Hout
Bay, where a Boat Trip to seal island is planned. Then it’s back to
Cape Town where visit the Waterfront enjoy an early dinner before going
back to our accommodation
Day 7: The Wineland’s Tour
Our tour of the
Wineland’s starts off with, weather permitting, a Photo Shoot at Blouberg
strand. We then move on to
Paarl for a cellar tour and wine tasting and continuing we make our
way to Franchhoek
for lunch. After lunch it onto to
Stellenbosch for another Wine tasting a walk about tour of this fascinating
town. After a full day we return to Cape Town. Supper at Marco’s Africa
Place.
Day 8: Garden Route - Cape Agulhas, the southern most point of
Africa
Start of Garden
Route, we travel to
Hermanus, via the scenic False
Bay coastal drive, and stop briefly at the Harold Porter Botanical Garden.
Hermanus is famous for whale viewing.) In the nearby town of Stanford
we visit a small Brewery (beer), where we have lunch. After lunch on to
the southern most point of Africa
at Cape Agulhas
where we visit the lighthouse Museum.
Day 9: Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo
Breakfast and then we make our way to the historical town of
Swellendam and visit the local museum. We drive over the Tradouw Pass
to the Town of Barrydale,
where we stop for lunch. Our next stop is in Calitzdorp,
famous for it’s Port, which we must try. Our last stop is the Town of
Oudtshoorn;
here we visit an ostrich farm.
Day 10: Cango Caves - the Lake District - Plettenberg Bay
An early breakfast, after which we move to the world famous Cango Caves
for a one-hour guided tour. We make our way back to
Oudtshoorn, and to the coastal town of George. Here we embark on a
steam train trip through the Lake and Coastal Districts between George
and Knysna. At
Knysna we have lunch and take a tour of the town and its surroundings.
In the afternoon a scenic drive to Plettenberg
Bay.
Day 11: Tsitsikamma - Port Elizabeth - Durban
Today our first stop will be the Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, a world
first. We enjoy lunch at the
Tsitsikamma National Park before driving the last stretch of the garden
Route to Port
Elizabeth. Drop off at the airport to connect with an afternoon flight
to Durban, where
you will be met by a team member who will take you on a brief City tour
en route to you beach front hotel.
Day 12: Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Park
Scenic 2 ˝ hour drive to Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Park,
the oldest game reserve in Africa
and famous for saving the White Rhino from extinction. Today the park
is home to the largest population and concentration of both species of
rhino as well as all the other “Big 5” species. A game drive on arrival
en route to check in at our camp. Afternoon game drive.
Day 13: Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park
Early morning wake up and after a light snack we pack up and depart on
game drive stopping along the way for a bush breakfast. We continue on our
game drive leaving the park at lunchtime. Lunch at local restaurant
followed by curio shopping opportunity before we continue on to St.
Lucia where we arrive in the late afternoon.
Day 14:
After breakfast we take a 2-hour boat cruise tour up the estuary of Lake
St. Lucia. En route back to Durban we stop at Mtunzini
for lunch and a walk in the Rafia Palm forest. Drop off at Durban airport
and connect with flight to Johannesburg
to connect with you flight home.
