1 Saturday Johannesburg
Meet on arrival at JNB
International airport and transferred to your overnight hotel At Gold
Reef City. The rest of the day is set a side to relax and enjoy the attractions
on offer at Gold
Reef City. (additional site seeing can be arranged).
Day
2 Sunday Mpumalanga - "The Place of the Rising Sun"
We depart from Johannesburg
for the Mpumalanga
province - "the place of the rising sun” enroute we visit Pilgrim’s
Rest where the largest gold rush in the southern hemisphere took place
and also take in the well known Longtom
Pass. Optional evening cultural experience at Shangana Village.
Days
3 & 4 Monday & Tuesday Kruger National Park
We visit other natural splendours of this region including God's
Window, Blyde
River Canyon- an awesome valley with panoramic views, as well as Bourke’s
Luck Potholes, where the Blyde River has carved huge cylindrical holes
into rock. We continue onto the world-renowned Kruger
National Park is one of the main highlights in this region. An area
of 2 million Ha (the size of Whale or Belgium) it is home to the big five
and an abundance of birdlife, reptiles and other mammals. Not to be missed
is a night drive through one of the best conserved and managed game reserves
in the world to see nocturnal animals in their undisturbed habitat.
Day 5 Wednesday Swaziland – “Switzerland of Africa”
Swaziland is
an independent landlocked country, the people are of nGuni origin like
the Zulu. Here we
will take time out from game viewing to enjoy traditional cultural, curio
shopping and relaxing.
Days 6 – 7: Thursday & Friday Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Park
Famous for saving the white rhino from extinction in the ‘60’s today
this park has the largest populations and highest densities of both black
and white rhino in the world. Although the rhino are undoubtedly the
highlight of this park it is also home to all the big five as well as
beautiful scenery. 1 night drive and 1 guided bush walk included.
Day 8 Saturday Shakaland – “The People of the Sky”
Not far from Hluhluwe/Umfolozi
Park is the Greater
St. Lucia Wetland Park, recently proclaimed a World Heritage Site,
where we'll take the popular Cruise and possibly see the biggest Crocodiles
and Hippo you'll ever encounter.
Shakaland
is an experience that will give you an insight into how come the name
“Zulu” struck fear into the hearts of the ‘civilized world’ of the 18th
Century. You will experience traditional Zulu tribal life as it was in
the days of King Shaka; enjoy traditional Zulu dancing and try your hand
at Zulu stick-fighting as well as an opportunity to buy some spectacular
beadwork for those at home, or just quenching the thirst with a few pints
of African beer.
Day 9 Sunday Durban - “Where the Fun Never Sets”
Expect a warm welcome in Durban,
South Africa's premier holiday city. We will take you a tour of the city’s
highlight including the "Golden
Mile." If you've never traveled in a genuine Rickshaw, now's
your chance. There's everything from golden beaches, Sea World, Indian
markets and the night life. You name it, Durban has it!
Day 10 & 11 Monday & Tuesday Port Elizabeth to Knysna -
“The Garden Route”
From Durban we take an early morning flight to Port
Elizabeth, the gateway to the Garden
Route. Our first stop is the Tsitsikamma
National Park, where we will spend some time relaxing and enjoying
lunch. We move on to the town of Knysna whose motto, "This fair land
is a gift from God" bears testimony to the pride local people have
in their resort. A charming town of legend, history, arts and crafts -
something for every visitor's need or fancy. We invite you to relax and
experience this environmental bliss. Also on offer are cruises down the
Knysna Lagoon
Day 12 Wednesday The Klein Karoo
We make our way to Oudshoorn
and the Klein
Karoo, via the Outeniqua
Pass, where there are photographic opportunities around each corner.
In Oudshoorn we will take a guided tour of the Cango
Caves and visit an Ostrich farm and learn about these fascinating
birds and even get a chance to ride them. We head for Mossel
Bay via the Robinson Pass.
Days 13 & 14 Thursday & Friday Grande Finale: Cape Town -
"The Mother City"
On our way to Cape
Town a coastal carpet of flowers vividly paints a stunning landscape
as we near the southernmost point of Africa - the
Cape Agulhas. Driving along the coast, the shipwrecks and sailors'
graves serve as mute reminders of the "dreaded Agulhas roll"
- the killer wave. This coastal contrast of great danger and beauty leads
us to Cape Town - the Mother of All Cities.
Activities include a cable car ascent up Table
Mountain, a visit to the Cape
Point Nature Reserve- where you can view the meeting of the Atlantic
and Indian Oceans, Penguin
colony at Boulders beach.
Nestled on Cape Town's outskirts are some of the world's finest wine
estates giving us the opportunity to taste the "nectar of the
Gods".
Day 15 Saturday Cape Town and Home
A multitude of shops, pubs, restaurants and exhibitions form the Victorian
and Alfred Waterfront. You can "shop till you drop." An
optional extra is a historical journey to Robben
Island and follow Nelson Mandela's footsteps. Looking back from Robben
Island you can finish your filming here with some of the most spectacular
scenery in the world.
