Your Guide to the Drakensberg and Natal Midlands

Pony Trekking in South Africa

South Africa has a horde of exciting pony trekking venues including the Drakensberg, Plettenberg Bay (Garden Route), Port Alfred (Eastern Cape), Lesotho, Stellenbosch (Western Cape), and Waterberg National Park in the Northern Province.

Pony trekking in South AfricaNotably the Basotho Pony is a cross-breed of European and Javanese horses, renown for being strong and sure-footed, a relief to recall when on the verge of sheer cliffs ! Pony trekking is the speciality of the mountain kingdom of Lesotho, remote and stunningly scenic areas focused around the Basotho Pony Trekking centre on God Help Me Pass and Malealea Lodge near the Gates of Paradise.
