The Homestead is a Guest Lodge offering B&B and Self Catering accommodation in Geluksburg near Bergville. The Homestead offers a range of comfortable en-suite and family rooms which are beautifully furnished.
The
village of Geluksburg was first conceived in 1908 but before it could be
proclaimed the 1914-18 war forced its abandonment. The idea of a village
was resurrected in the 1930's but the outbreak of the 1939-45 war again
saw its abandonment. The project finally took off in the 1980's and Geluksburg
became unique as a private village in the centre of the beautiful Drakensberg
area. Geluksburg is close to the famous "Lost Valley" of the Drakensberg
which has its own place in the folklore of the Drakensberg, being the site
of a "white tribe" which lived in isolation from the rest of civilization
until just after the turn of the century.
A buffet style family meal is served in the cosy dining room. Typical English breakfast is standard, but Continental is available for the smaller appetite. Special catering arrangements e.g: menu's, vegetarian and catering for large groups, Christmas lunches can be arranged on request. Dining room seats +-120 people. The Homestead offers a range of comfortable en-suite and family rooms which are beautifully furnished. Self catering units are also available. A small bar is available with a definite Scottish theme to the décor. You will enjoy an evening in the Tam o'Shanter. A conference room is available for groups of up to 40 people. Service includes dinner, bed & breakfast, with finger lunch and two tea / coffee breaks at rates you can afford. Day conference and weddings available for 120 people. A short walk from The Homestead will take you to the Waterfall. Available in the surrounding area we have: Walks, fishing, hiking, museums, bowls, polo, tennis, golf, horse-riding, mountain-biking, Bushman paintings, curio shops, shoe and cheese factories.
