The fauna and flora of the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park is a haven of incredible variety. With altitudes varying from 1280 m to almost 3500 m, the Park has a great variety in its topography, which combined with influencing factors such as climate, soil and aspect, results in a fascinating diversity of plants.

There ae 299 bird species in the Park, with ten species listed as being of global conservation importance - including the whitewinged flufftail, Cape parrot, corncrake, lesser kestrel and yellowbreasted pipit. There are 48 species of mammal to be found here, including leopard, baboon, jackal, black wildebeest, eland, zebra and red hartebeest, as well as the largest population of clawless otters in South Africa. With an abundance of game, birds and plants, as well as some of the world's most stunning scenery and the rock art of the San, the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park is one of South Africa's premier tourist attractions.
