Your Guide to the Drakensberg and Natal Midlands

Team Building in the Drakensberg

Team building opportunities abound in the Drakensberg. Build confidence or assist groups to bond then the Drakensberg region is the place for team building exercises.

Team building ideas as single day outings

  • Team building in the Drakensberg - AbseilingABSEILING & ROCK CLIMBING AT MONTESEEL
A days fun on the crags. YES this is for everyone and NO you do not need any experience. Spend the whole day at the crags at Monteseel where instructors can teach the group (Including children from five years old) to overcome their fears and with group/peer support that they cam achieve the seemingly impossible.
  • DAY WALK INTO KLOOF GORGE
Undertake a days walk into the Kloof Gorge area. Swimming is available in the pools. Abseiling could be included with this option.
  • CASTLE BUTTRESS HELI-HIKE
For the more adventurous. Drive to the central Drakensberg where you are flown in groups to the top of Castle Buttress at the very top of the Natal Drakensberg Escarpment by high altitude Squirrel helicopter. Enjoy a picnic lunch and take part in some Abseiling if required. The views and easy walks in this area have to be seen to be believed. After a photo session at Cleft Peak fly back down for drinks at the hotel.
  • Teambuilding in the Drakensberg - Hike to the top of the Drakensberg escarpment to the top of the Tugela FallsTUGELA FALLS AND AMPHITHEATER SUMMIT
This is a long day but a memory you will not forget.
Drive up to the Sentinel carpark in QwaQwa and walk to the top of the Tugela Falls in the Drakensberg Escarpment. This is a four kilometer walk and will take us to above 10 000ft ASL. Lunch at the top of the falls overlooking Natal. This trip is suitable for all ages and families are welcome. Light daypacks will need to be carried by the group with rainwear, as the weather is always unpredictable at this altitude.

Team building ideas as multi day trips

  • TUGELA FALLS AND THE AMPHITHEATRE INCLUDING MONT AUX SOURCES (Two nights out)
This trip can be run over any number of days depending on the needs of the group. Travel up to the Sentinel Carpark in QwaQwa and undertake a four-kilometre walk up to the Amphitheatre summit. A basecamp is set up near the top of the Tugela falls. In the vicinity of the base camp we will undertake a number of group initiative and communication skills exercises. A walk to the top of Mont Aux Sources will be one of the goals. Abseiling can be undertaken on excellent rock in the area. Accommodation will be in Geodesic dome tents and all food is provided. Other variations of this trip are spending the Friday night at Qwantani or Witsieshoek resort after driving down from PTA.
  • HELI-HIKING AND BASE CAMPING ON THE DRAKENSBERG ESCARPMENT. (Subject to helicopter availability & weather restrictions) (Two nights out)
A number of trips into many of the areas on the Drakensberg escarpment can be undertaken. The general format of these trips is to fly by helicopter to a base camp on the top of the escarpment and then to complete group initiative exercises and day walks in the area chosen. Abseiling can be undertaken on excellent rock in the area. As for option one, the first night of these trips can be spent at Cathedral Peak hotel.
  • CATHEDRAL PEAK. (Two nights out)
This trip involves a walk starting at the Cathedral Peak hotel and ascending onto the top of the little berg. The group then makes an attempt to reach the top of Cathedral peak on day two, returning to the camp that afternoon. On day three we return to the carpark. In the vicinity of the base camp we will undertake a number of group initiative and communication skills exercises. This trip is suitable for anyone with moderate fitness.

Any other number of options are available for these trips. Contact us with your ideas and we will design a trip based on your needs and budget.
