Doveton is a self-contained cottage set in the rolling lawns of Doveton Farm, surrounded by rose gardens, lilies, flowers, shrubs and trees. Doveton is situated between Winterton and Bergville and offers bed and breakfast accommodation ideal for exploring the Central Drakensberg.
The
self-contained Pomegranate Place Cottage is separate from the Doveton main
house and features an open-plan layout for the sleeping and sitting area
with a farm style double bed, sleeper couch and television and also a well
equipped kichen.
A fireplace has been incorporated for chilly winter evenings and a fan for summer. The en-suite bathroom has a bath with shower attachment. A refrigerator, microwave, electric frying pan and tea/coffee making facilities are provided in the kitchen, which also has a small table for dining. Doveton is only fifteen minutes from the foothills of the Drakensberg and is within easy reach of the historic Spionkop battlefield and the central Drakensberg resorts.
The Lund family have lived at Doveton Farm for the last century and the care and attention lavished on the property over the years is much in evidence. Guests may relax in this tranquil setting or enjoy a leisurely stroll in the exquisite gardens with geese and cattle roaming the fields next to a dam at the garden's end. There is a private patio adjacent to the swimming pool and barbecue area, all of which are available for guests use. This beautiful and peaceful country setting with its large rolling lawns is available for weddings and functions. The farm offers excellent birding, while close by are restaurants, mountain walks, art rambles and Boer War battlefields as well as sports facilities. The tariffs allow a choice of self-catering or a hearty farm breakfast. Weather permitting, breakfast may be served on the private patio adjoining the pool. The local hotel in Winterton serves excellent lunches and evening meals.
