St. Francis Bay is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts: It boasts white sandy beaches and ideal conditions for surfing. In season - August to October - whales can be seen in the bay of St. Francis. Many holiday homes were built at the numerous canals from where one can get to the Kromme River by boat. The harbour is the centre for calamari fishing and a popular starting point for deep sea fishing trips.

About 10 kilometres south of St. Francis Bay lies Cape St. Francis with its impressive lighthouse from 1878, which is open to visitors. Also, one can have beautiful walks through the fynbos landscape, climb between the rocks and just watch the enormous breakers in awe.

St. Francis Bay offers several good hotels, B&Bs, guest houses and restaurants. For the golfer it provides an excellent 18-hole golf course within the village.
