Day
1
-
Arrival
you will be transferred to your Guest House. Time to Refresh
before we embark on a City Orientation tour. The tour itself takes
in the Sites of The City, Cape
Town dates back to 1652, so in South African terms, that's a long
time, included in the sites will be The Castle of Good Hope, the Parliament
Buildings, Company Gardens, the Anglican church made famous by Bishop
Tutu. You will get a chance (weather permitting of Course to walk
round). We will take you to Table Mountain, from where you can enjoy
magnificent views of the city. We then Visit Flagstone Winery, in
the V&A
Waterfront. The first and only winery in the Cape Town CBD, great
views of nearby
Table Mountain
Back
to the guesthouse before we move to the Savoy Cabbage for dinner, this is
a situated in the city Itself.
Day 2
-
Probably
the most popular of all our day tours. This tour has something for
everyone. Indomitable Mountains, Sea-slashed coast lines and wide
expansive beaches are only some of the delights on view. Enjoy a leisurely
walk in
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, travel past the famous beaches
of Clifton
and Llandudno
towards Hout
Bay. Here you can go on an optional cruise to Seal
Island. We continue along the Atlantic Seaboard through Noordhoek
and Scarborough,
where we stop for lunch. Then we head of to the
Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, ride the funicular to the scenic
viewpoint. From here we drive along the False
Bay Coast Line, where we visit the Boulders
Beach, famous for it's Jackass Penguins. We will visit the Wine
Cellar of Klein
Constantia. Supper will be at the Cape Malay Kitchen, on the beautiful
grounds of the Cellars-Hohenort Hotel, a 5 Star Relais & Chateaux
establishment.
Day 3
-
After
Breakfast we will make our way to the Waterfront, for our trip to
Robben
Island, fascinating and informative tour, of the Island as told
by former political prisoners. On our return you will be met by your
Township Guide, this tour of the informal settlements includes lunch
at the First Black guesthouse, in Langa, which is the oldest settlement
in Cape Town.
Sheila the owner of Lalapa will impress you with her culinary Skills.
Today we visit Meerlust Wine Cellar, winemaker Giorgio Della Cia is
a legend in the Winemaking Industry, and produces he's own Grappa,
which has won much acclaim here and abroad. We return to the guesthouse.
Supper will be at the Africa Café', in the city centre. Here they
will sample meals from all over South
Africa.
Day 4
-
We depart
Cape Town for Worcester,
this town has a proud wine Tradition spanning 250 years, and it is
the largest District, producing about 25% of South Africa's Volume.
Our First stop is
Paarl steeped in History. This town is a treasure house of Architecture
found mainly along its main street also boasts quality wines. We stop
for coffee at the Torino Coffee and Chocolate Shop. Driving on through
the town, and over the impressive Du Toit Kloof Pass we arrive at
the Nuy Cellar situated at the foot of the Langeberg
Mountains, it is one of the smaller co-operatives in South Africa.
Nuy enjoys a widespread reputation for its excellent wines. We enjoy
a traditional farm meal at the Cellar to enjoy with the wine tasting.
Later we go into Worcester to Visit the Barn Art Gallery which is
housed in a restored thatch and whitewash dwelling, erected in 1790.
Various arts, sculptures and hand blown glass are on display. David
Reade, a master glass blower, can be viewed practicing the art of
glass Blowing. It is the only full time working Studio of its kind
in Southern Africa. We check into the Goudini Spa, where we will overnight.
Supper will be at the Damas Restaurant, where excellent Cuisine is
the order of the day. We overnight in Goudini
Day 5
-
Breakfast
in the Restaurant. Enjoy the mineral spa water, relax in one of the
several swimming pools or bubble baths and enjoy true Boland
hospitality. Have a light lunch at the resort after which we move to
the KWV Brandy Cellar for a guided tour, the largest of its kind in
the world. Its uniqueness lies in the 120-year-old Potstills, we visit
the huge maturation cellar, and watch demonstrations of the Ancient
craft of Barrel Making by Coopers. We return to Goudini and enjoy a
glass of the finest wine from the valley. Tonight we have organized a
fish Braai, prepared over an open fire, served with Sweet Potato,
vetkoek and salads. The Badsberg Cellar will be your host for the
evening. This cellar situated only 1 Kilometer from the resort is
proud to present its best wines for a special informal wine tasting
session combined with a snoekbraai. Be entertained by our local

Day 6
-
Breakfast
in the Restaurant, depart for the picturesque village of Tulbagh,
famous for its heritage of Cape Dutch and Victorian Architecture,
concentrated mainly in Church Street. These houses where severely
damaged in an earthquake in 1969, which resulted in the restoration
of 32 Buildings to their original design, we will have time to visit
the Museums and antique shops. We stop at Twee Jonge Gezellen Estate,
to taste the Award winning Cap Classic sparkling wine, Krone Borealis,
housed in a underground cellar, one can still enjoy the age old tradition
of 'sabraging"
We
leave for Citrusdal
via the town of Ceres
and Mitchell
Pass. Citrusdal is renown for its superior citrus products and Golden
Valley wines. On arrival we will be hosted at the "Goue Vallei"
where we will enjoy a light lunch and a chance to try some of the Local
wines. After lunch we visit the nearby Goode Hoop Citrus packing Shed,
and one of the Local Citrus farms. We Overnight in Citrusdal. Super in
our Guesthouse
Day 7
-
After breakfast
we depart for nearby Clanwilliam,
one of the oldest towns in the Country it is rich in history and will
satisfy naturelovers, adventurous, and Flower viewers. This town the
heart of Rooibos tea, is surrounded by the
Cederberg area, this range owes it's name to the to the cedar
trees of the area, experience the rugged beauty, with it's distinctive
landscapes, popular with mountaineers, hikers and naturalists. We
stop in the town at the Old jail, now a museum. A tour at the Rooibos
factory has been organised, it is a chance to learn about this unique
tea shrub which is cultivated in the area. We enjoy lunch in the town.
After lunch we drive over the spectacular Pakhuis pass, stop at the
grave of C. L Leipoldt, Poet, journalist, medical doctor, and Gourmet,
and onto Travellers rest this establishment offers a 4km ramble through
the world of the San, the bushmen who inhabited this area for thousands
of years. There are 9 sites on the trail, which offer a glimpse of
the rock art left behind by the San. We will do a short 1.5 Km Hike.
Our overnight Accommodation is at the Ou Drif, this is a unique and
peaceful setting on the Doring River, and our host Bill will prepare

Day 8
-
After a
scrumptious Breakfast we leave the Doring River, and its beautiful
surroundings, and head for the Coast. Our Destination is
Lambert's bay. This seaside village is the heart of the Crayfish
country, where we will go on a guided tour we visit Bird Island a
breeding ground for thousands of birds, including Cape Gannets, cormorants,
penguins and other sea birds. Have lunch at the Muisbosskerm, this
restaurant has an unusual setting, right on the beach, with surf breaking
a few yards away, sit under shady pergolas, and watch your meals being
prepared on open fires. After Lunch you drive north to Strandfontein,
this lovely village is situated on the slopes of a natural basin with
a white beach against striking formations. Overnight in Strandfontein
at a local guesthouse. Supper at nearby Doring Bay
Day 9
We travel onto Vredendal,
under the Huge Sishen-Saldana Bridge, it's the largest of its kind in
the world. We have a light lunch in the small family Wine Estate of Stoumanns,
the owner Napoleon (he's real name) makes quality wines, and is one of
the best-kept secrets in the Industry. We drive onto the Vanrhynsdorp,
the "gateway to the
Namaqualand" this town dates back to 1740 when the first farmers
moved to the region. Visit the Kern succulent nursery, the biggest of
it's kind in South Africa. Leave for Calvina via the Van Rhyn's pass,
820 Meters above sea level, the traveller has a magnificent view of the
whole region. Drive through Nieuwoudtville, a great sheep farming area,
though many farms are hidden behind hills, so it appears totally un-peopled.
The town is full of character with distinctive sand stone buildings. Arrive
in Calvinia
where you will overnight. Accommodation is at the Hantam House, one of
the town's first houses, which dates back to 1850. Supper will be at the
guesthouse
Day 10
-
After Breakfast
we leave for Augrabies
and continue our way through the towns of Kakamas,
famous for its Yellow cling peaches, and Keimoes where grapes, wheat
and fruit are grown under irrigation. We will visit the Kakamas Wine
cellar, which is part of the Orange River co-op, it is South Africa's
Largest. High Summer Temperatures and resultant high sugars here make
fortified dessert wine the natural speciality. We have lunch in Keimoes,
and then travel onto Augrabies National Park. The afternoon will be
taken up by viewing the mighty Augrabies
Falls (6th largest in the world) and a game drive. Later we enjoy
sundowners overlooking the Canyon with the Gariep
River far below. Dinner will be in the Restaurant or prepared
by the guide
Day 11
-
Today
we leave for Kuruman,
driving through to upington,
we stop at one of the Persian Waterwheels, still in operation. We
will see glimpses of the Gariep River en route to upington, and will
learn how it was used to transform the Dry Northern
Cape into a productive Farming area. We head onto Kuruman, see
the famous Quiver Trees that grow in the Area. We visit the Robert
Moffat Mission where David Livingstone found his wife. At Kuruman
we visit the "Eye of Kuruman" a freshwater fountain
gushing 20 Million litres of Water A day. We spend the evening in
the Desert at the Red Sands Country Lodge where we overnight
Day 12
Diamonds
add to the interest and history of the area, as we relive the past as we
stop at the Kimberley mine Museum (big Hole)
We
will visit a diamond mine where we do an underground Tour. Later we have
lunch at the De Beers Club, very Colonial and a fitting place to have
our farewell lunch. We will arrive at the Kimberley Airport at 14h40 for
your Flight to Johannesburg at 15h40. On arrival in Johannesburg
you will catch your Connecting flight home. Tour Ends
